Sebastian Faulks CBE

Sebastian Faulks CBE is a member of the UK Government Advisory Group on the Commemoration of the First World War. He has dealt with aspects of the war in his work as a novelist, principally in Birdsong (1993), Human Traces (2005) and Where My Heart Used to Beat (2015). He helped write the services for the Somme centenary in 2016 at Thiepval in France, including the address given by the Duke of Cambridge, and read from Birdsong at Westminster Abbey in August 2014 in the service that marked the centenary of the outbreak of war.

He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and an honorary fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
